Busy Hands, Full Heart

I’ve always been a person who likes staying busy. You know the old phrase, “Idle hands are the devil’s workshop”? I guess that’s why I enjoy finding something productive to do.
For me, the reality of “busy” looks different from season to season. Over the last month or so, I’ve gotten to spend a lot of time with my great-niece and great-nephew, help with garden prep, prepare for a school Farm to Family Night we’re attending as Honeybird Homestead, pick up the school’s newsletter, and tackle tiny little side projects that seem to multiply when I’m not looking. Each day, I climb into bed hurting and tired, with long days etched into every sore muscle.
However, in all the chaos of life, little moments still seem to find their way through the noise. It can come in the form of the twins chasing bubbles and discovering how fun they are. Or picking up a book for the first time in months and having it resonate so deeply with an ache in me that I finish it in six hours of nonstop reading. Maybe it’s finding a cute sitcom from the ’90s that feels warm and steady in a world that often doesn’t. Or something as ordinary as rediscovering an old camera and using it to capture the people, animals, and places I love. Each of these small moments feels almost like a pause button, not because life stops, but because they remind me there is more to it than the next task.
If we aren’t paying attention, those moments might not seem to matter or even register. But they are far from insignificant. They remind us that life is not only made up of chores, deadlines, and responsibilities. It is also made up of wonder, comfort, beauty, and connection. At the end of the day, those moments do not erase the wear and tear. They simply remind us that it is worth it.

ABOUT ME

My name is Stefani. I am a princess, a dragon rider, a warrior, a magician, a time traveler, a crime solver and so much more. But for "technical" purposes you can call me a Librarian. I teach Elementary Library and Technology as well as High School Coding and Robotics. In my spare time I love books, archery, fishing, crafts and a lot of little things that make life wonderful.
